BESPOKE BUILT-IN DISPLAY AND STORAGE UNIT

This bespoke built-in display and storage unit was designed, handcrafted, and installed by Claude Clémaron for our client’s living room in Worplestone, Guildford. The stylish contemporary fitted cabinetry provides a variety of shelving, display areas and concealed storage.

The made to measure, floor to ceiling living room storage in natural light oak wood and painted surfaces makes a real designer statement creating a magnificent entrance way from the living room area through to the dining room. Books and artefacts are beautifully displayed and illuminated, while everything else is concealed neatly out of sight until required.

Made to measure wall cabinets with an artistic design

As the entrance through to the dining room is not centred, simply having two different-width units on either side of the opening would have created an unbalanced look. We suggested the overhead section connecting the left and right cabinets. This frames the entrance to the dining room and gives a cohesive, balanced look.

Led lights have been cleverly positioned behind an integrated pelmet in all the oak display cubby holes, giving the display unit a subtle warm glow. All the lighting is controlled by small dimmer sensors on the exterior of the cabinets. The flush fitting handle-free doors and cupboards open with a gentle push.

 Bold colour in on-trend purple

The light oak creates a pleasing contrast with the striking, deep purple paint called ‘Plump Raisin, which was colour-matched to our client’s upholstered sofa. This reflects the trend towards more unusual and bolder colours in interiors and furniture. Purple is a rich, luxurious colour in the home, especially a dark violet or amethyst. In the living room here, while making a dramatic, designer statement it also brings a cocooning, comforting mood to the space.
