BESPOKE CORNER BOOKCASE WITH PULLOUT WORKTOP

This project shows how effective custom-made fitted furniture can be in transforming a corner of a room. The bespoke corner bookcase unit was skillfully handcrafted in an l-shaped and installed for our clients in their retirement property in Cranleigh, Surrey. The traditional design and construction, along with the timeless hand painted white finish, makes the piece feel part of the architecture of the room.

The combination of shelves, cupboards and a pullout desktop maximises the amount of storage and workspace in an underused corner of the room. The fitted furniture design is ideal for showcasing books, artworks and other cherished belongings, while also allowing our clients to hide away files and paperwork and the general clutter of their daily lives.

Extending work surface

This bespoke built-in l-shaped bookcase creates a surprising amount of storage space in a small footprint. The handcrafted cabinetry cleverly conceals a worktop extension. This pull-out panel glides out smoothly to create a useful desk which turns this corner bookcase unit into a small workstation and instant home office.

Traditional design and construction

The finished bookcase is visually appealing and highly practical with its classic layout of upper shelving and lower cupboards tucked neatly into the corner of the room. The cornice was handcrafted to perfectly complement the hand painted fitted bookcase. Decorative pilasters finish just under the cornice top. The white colour choice works well as it opens up the space yet has a warm undertone, so it is not too cold or clinical.
