This bespoke contemporary oak bookcase was commissioned by our client for their home in Claygate, Surrey. The brief was to include cupboards and drawers in the fitted cabinet alongside fixed tailored shelving to display a collection of books. The bookcase showcases exquisite craftmanship and detailing, seen in the chamfered edging and slender vertical pilasters, which give the unit a high-end look.

Handcrafted in natural European oak

The beautifully figured crown cut European oak has an interesting texture and light golden colour. Incredibly strong and hardwearing, the sustainable hardwood has a warm, calming quality. This bookcase has been built with shelves in a fixed position which is the strongest, most stable option and the cabinet is also fully lined with crown cut oak veneer to create a fully integrated look.

Customised storage behind closed doors

The bookcase features upper and lower door cabinets and a series of drawers on concealed full extension soft close runners. Closed storage likes this keeps the bookcase well-organised and tidy, and provides ample space for stowing office equipment, stationery and other items. The flat-faced doors and drawer fronts have been finished with long sleek stainless steel bar handles
