GOTHIC STYLE BESPOKE PERIOD LIBRARY IN DARK OAK

BARBICAN, LONDON

This Gothic style bespoke period library interior was created for our client’s modern apartment in central London. The dramatic and mysterious Gothic style is characterised by dark, heavy wood and ornate carving. Crafted and stained in solid oak, the cabinetry has a sense of sturdiness, and looks as though it’s centuries old and will last for centuries to come.

Ingenious concealed made to measure doors

Most of the handcrafted bookcases have secret hidden doors, also known as jib doors, which are disguised to look as though they are part of the furniture, cleverly blended into the bookcases and panelling. In this library they provide access to other rooms and secret cupboards. A practical, yet utterly charming and beguiling feature.

Authentic hand carved decoration

The solid oak library furniture is traditionally crafted in the Gothic style with intricate detailing. Hand carved Linenfold (Folded Linen) cabinet doors and panelling is a centuries old art style. The fold on shown on the cabinet door here forms part of the traditional oak raised and fielded panel.
