This classic fitted oak home office was handcrafted for a home in West Chiltington, near Horsham, West Sussex. Our client wanted the cabinets and desk to be made from sustainable European oak with a natural driftwood look. We achieved this using a specialist technique to enhance the wood grain and a pure, clear matt lacquer which protects the timber, without adding colour.

The result is a smooth, pale natural appearance which has a calm and welcoming quality. While being classic in style, cleverly integrated cable management and power points bring this home office right up to date.

Made to measure built-in bookcase

Key features of the made to measure bookcase and storage cabinet are four full extension suspension hanging file drawers for our client’s numerous documents; and a glazed display cabinet with dimmable integrated LED lighting to illuminate cherished artefacts. Double power sockets are integrated within the reeded solid oak vertical pilasters. The back of the cabinets have been painted in Farrow and Ball Manor House Gray, a cool, definite grey colour, which is also reflected in the aged pewter door and drawer knobs

Custom shaped desk

Designed entirely to our client’s specification this comfortable, custom-made desk has a traditional design with its 120mm wide solid oak surround and luxurious real leather inlay. Details like the overhang with chunky external curves gives the desk a distinguished character. Under the desktop we incorporated secret shallow cabinets with plain oak veneered doors for hidden cable and wire management. This prevents trip hazards and maintains the traditional design aesthetic of the home office.
